Film & TV Permits International · An independent register of film permit authorities

International permit register

Who issues the permit, what it costs, how long it really takes

An independent register of the offices that license filming — contacts, fees, insurance minimums, application steps and real processing times, each entry checked against the authority's own page and stamped with the date it was last verified.

How an entry gets published

Nothing appears in this register because a scraper found it or a model wrote it. Every published entry has been through the same four steps.

  1. 1

    Sourced

We start from the authority's own published material — its website, application form and fee schedule. Each entry records the source it came from.

  2. 2

    Checked against the source

Every field is checked against the authority's own page before the entry goes live, and the entry records the page it came from. Nothing is published automatically: a draft goes live only after that check and an explicit approval.

  3. 3

    Date-stamped

Every listing shows the date it was last verified. Entries older than ninety days are re-checked against their source, and a changed page is pulled back for review.

  4. 4

    Open to correction

Anyone can propose a correction with evidence. A moderator applies or rejects it, and the verification date resets when a change lands.

What this is not. The register is a reference, not an authorisation. Fees and requirements change without notice, and an entry is only as current as its verification date — always confirm with the issuing authority before you shoot. Tell us about an authority we're missing

For permit authorities

If you license filming, this is your listing

Productions already use this register to find you and to plan around your process. Claiming your entry costs nothing and puts you in control of what it says about you.

Free, and nothing is for sale

Listing, claiming and editing cost nothing. No position on this site can be bought — including a place in our rankings.

You edit your own entry

Verify once with an email at your official domain, then update contacts, fees, timelines and requirements yourself. Name, jurisdiction and publication status stay with our editors.

See the demand you receive

Your dashboard shows how many productions looked up your permit process in the last ninety days — aggregate counts only, no personal data.

Who uses the register

Producers and production managers

Compare jurisdictions before you commit: what a permit costs, what insurance is demanded, whether a local sponsor or content pre-approval is required, and how long a decision actually takes.

OnLoc — the permit log for people actually on location

Track every application you've filed, hold locations for a director, write recce notes on your phone, and send a client a clean shortlist link. Free, with no seat limits and nothing to upgrade to.

OnLoc is what keeps the register current. When you choose to share an application's outcome it becomes one anonymous data point — median processing time, typical fee — on that authority's page. Sharing is opt-in per application and never includes your private notes or contacts.

Applications
One record per authority per project: status, fees quoted and paid, dates, and why anything was refused.
Holds
Which locations you are holding, for whom, and when each hold runs out — with a reminder two days before it does.
Recce reports
Power, parking, access, sound and sun, with photos and voice notes captured on site.
Shortlists
A read-only link for a director or client. No account needed to open it, and hazards, costs and contacts stay behind.
